Is Hair Loss During Pregnancy a Problem?

Wednesday, September 11, 2013
Hormonal changes during pregnancy can affect the condition of your hair.

Here are three changes that can be experienced by you during pregnancy:

1. Oily hair

Pregnancy hormones cause the oil production in the scalp becomes excessive. Especially when coupled with other factors, such as stress, too often hair wash, shampoo and improper usage. Keep your food intake to minimize the production of oil in the hair.

2. More dense hair

Increased estrogen during pregnancy will extend the 'age' your hair. Hair should fall out and be replaced with a new piece, will last longer in your scalp. Meanwhile, the new hairs have started to grow.

3. More hair curly / straight.

Hormonal changes during pregnancy can also affect the disulfide bonds in hair keratin fibers. Bonding changes can cause changes in the texture of your hair, from curly to straight, or vice versa.
