2. Carbohydrates supply energy to the body. There's different types of carbohydrates: sugars & starches. Sugars (also often called simple carbohydrates) can be present in plenty of fruits, as well as in high-fat foods such as chocolate. Sugars are absorbed in to the bloodstream quickly to provide a fast energy boost. Starches (complex carbohydrates) take longer to be digested, so they release energy over an extended timeframe, leading to increased stamina. They are present in bread, cereals, pasta & vegetables.

3. Vitamins also perform a range of functions such as aiding growth & development, boosting immunity & energy, & supporting vital organs in the body such as the eyes. Vitamins are present in a range of foods, fruits, vegetables & dairy products.
